Teaching Philosophy

Teaching is something that I never thought I would be able to do, especially in art. Not because I had not thought about it before, but because I have always been an anxious person and felt like I didn’t have the capabilities to become a good teacher. However, I chose to ignore my anxieties and follow what I felt would bring me joy. I genuinely feel like this is the right path for me because forming connections with students not only brings out so much happiness in myself but to the students as well. Creating relationships and connections is something I strongly strive for because it is what creates a safe environment. I want to create a safe environment in which all students feel welcomed and can express themselves through art. I believe all students deserve the opportunity to have a place where they can put their creativity to use, connect with their peers, and develop various skills that will help them grow in both their artistic abilities and life. I desire to teach students that art is not only about creating beautiful artworks, but that it is also about forming relationships, learning to fail, inspiring others, and making meaningful works in which their voices can be heard.
